Time for an update.

My regular readers know that I only update after something .. eventful has happened in my life.

Well, as of last night, I’m back to XP.

If you remember the 11th of August this year, I made the leap of faith and jumped to Vista 64 bit.

It was, in all honesty, a good run. Nothing to write home about, DX10 seemed nice, didn’t see anything that would make my head spin or anything.. but as of last night, Vista isn’t on my computer anymore.

I lost everything last night.

You’re probably thinking whoa whoa, hold the phone, what happened.. well.. sit back and get comfortable and I’ll tell you a tale.

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip, that started from this tropic port.. wait wrong story..

Vista installed a critical update for gaming, because I was trying to play the Crysis Single Player demo.. after that, I rebooted. I didn’t expect much honestly, I thought I’d be back up and running and playing Crysis in all of it’s Direct X 10 glory…

Needless to say, that didn’t happen. Vista grinded and slowed to a halt, and wouldn’t boot. That’s when I started to get worried… thinking that this was just a fluke, I hit the restart button, and sat back and relaxed. Ten to thirty minutes later, Vista was still trying to load. This is when things got really bad… I got distraught, and rebooted, again. After this, Vista wouldn’t do anything for about an hour… after that, I reboot and formatted,.. after that, XP wouldn’t install.. count another reboot, and another format. After freaking around with it for a while, I remembered I had to partition the drive, then install XP.

10 to 40 minutes later, XP installed, and I had to reinstall everything, and needless to say, I’m now back up and running..

Such hassle for repairs.

Not much else occured today, my best friend Kurt and I rented Disk one, of season one of The Dresdin Files, the TV series, and I rented Metroid Prime 3 for the Wii (because I’ve not played my Wii in a long time).. and brought over the last episode of season one of Burn Notice.

Metroid Prime 3 is.. great, hard, but great. I think I may just be out of practice with my Wii-motes and nunchucks. Burn Notice’s final episode for season one, was a great episode, but I still think it’s a bit flat for a TV show, though it’s better than anything USA has produced in a long, long time.

We watched them at my new house, even though I’m not completely moved in, my DVD players are over at my new house, so we thought we’d be okay there. Boy were we wrong. By the time we were done doing everything we resembled this slightly:

I’m not kidding you, we were frozen.

We were frozen because of the fact that my house doesn’t have heating yet, because we have to repair the furnace in it.

I think the next time we’ll plan to do something like that in the morning so that it’s sunny outside, so we can get warm..

Oh well.. I had a wonderful time tonight, other than the hours before getting together with my best friend.
