Great wheel of jobness, what does the future hold for me?

Joblessness.

That’s what.

:( .

I walked into work today, to work 4:00 to 7:15. I was told to come into the back and speak with my manager a bit. Soon after we talked (he was wondering how I was doing), my district manager called.

After about three seconds of ‘friendly talk’, my district manager got down to business.

He asked me if I had any objections to the reasons why they were letting me go, none of which I’ll list here, but if you want to know, ask in a comment.. I’ll be sure to let you know.

After that he said ‘If you want to work today, you can.’

Now, here’s what I’m thinking… You’re going to tell an associate who used to love his job as much as anything that he can work the day he’s been terminated.

Pardon my language.. but what the fuck?

Yes, you’ve been fired, but you can still work today if you want… Never mind how you feel with your depression, never mind how you used to work and sell more accessories or anything else than anyone in the store.. We’re going to allow you to work one extra day.

I kindly passed on that opportunity and called my best friend on the verge of tears and had him come pick me up. He arrived within 10-15 minutes, during which time I called my father and quietly, holding back tears because of how upset I was, told him that I’d lost my job.

Dad was surprisingly understanding about the whole situation and calmed me down a bit. I don’t know what I’d do without my best friend and father to have to calm me down while I was so depressed.

After my friend came to pick me up, he brought me to Blockbuster where I tried to rent two 360 games. Unfortunately for me, they’re now instituting a new policy that says anyone who wants to rent 360 / Wii / PS 3 games has to have a valid credit card.

They won’t take debit cards for whatever reason, so I couldn’t rent games there.

Again, pardon my language but: Fuck you Blockbuster, I hope your business drops like a rock because you’re not allowing kids to rent games now.

Now I understand that this is because people are trying to steal next generation games from the rental joint,s but I think their should be a flag on the persons account if they’ve done it in the past, then, and only then should they have their name linked to a major credit card, because people like me who have zero credit can’t rent games now, and aren’t trusted. That’s total bull shit, because of one or two, or maybe five people decide to steal games, other people get the shaft.

So, after finding out about Blockbusters crappy new policy, my friend drove me to the Hollywood Video I worked for for two months..

There, I picked up Crackdown and Viva Piñata. I’ve been playing Crackdown since I got home. There’s something satisfying about being able to blow stuff up without it being a crime. I guess that’s why I like video games so much. They’re a great escapement utility. I’m probably going to jump into Viva Piñata in a bit, but I thought I’d give my weblog an update for tonight.

Everyone have a good night/day, whenever you happen to read this.

My father is home from Mexico.

My father got home at about 7:00 PM last night.

Because of this, he picked me up and we went out and he bought me dinner (Subway, Tuna Melt with Black Olives, on Honey Oat), and rented two movies.

We rented Casino Royale and Man Of The Year.

Man of the Year was the movie with Robin Williams as a presidential-elect, who got voted into office because of a computer glitch.

I really enjoyed it.. and that’s saying something because I really don’t get into politically charged movies unless it’s something like ‘The American President’. The only other time I really get into politics is when Barack Obama is speaking (if he’s on the ticket in 08, he’s already got my vote)..or when its something on The Daily Show or The Colbert Report, but other than that, I don’t get into politics much at all.

As for other news in my life, I find out what’s probably going to happen with my job at RadioShack this coming Monday. I have this Sunday off, which destresses me to no end because I don’t know if my district manager is going to tell me they’re keeping me, or getting rid of me.

Usually I’m pretty optimistic about things but in this case I’m prepping for bad news so that when/if he tells me that they’re deciding to let me go, I’m not so depressed.

( Who am I kidding, I’ll be depressed anyway. :( )

I’m not sure what I’m going to do to find another job because the BMV I applied at hasn’t called me back yet and Steak and Shake is still sort of a undecided debacle.

I’m starting to wonder if I should do a Data Entry Specialist job because I can type incredibly quickly, and I know it’d be a secure spot for me. It’s also typing all day, so how hard can it be? I do it all day anyway when I’m at home on a day off… :)

We’ll see where the Wheel O’ Jobs lands next.. It might even land on ‘File for Unemployment,’ wich I think ‘File for Unemployment’ is the Wheel O’ Jobs way of saying I’m bankrupt and out of ideas. :(

Anyway, the G4 Powerbook I’m writing this on has about 36 minutes left to it’s miserable battery life, and I’m getting extremely tired, so I’m going to close this off and probably goto bed.

I’ll try to update again later today (seeing as it’s already April 22nd).
