¿Usted habla inglés?

Current mood: Thoughtful. Thoughtful.

“Ud no tiene suficiente dinero para comprar este juego, y ademas tiene que tener diecisiete anos si no, no puedo venderselo..”

Or something like that..

Don’t get me wrong, I love working for EB Games, and don’t consider me racist or anything, but when a group of Spanish people come in looking for a game, and they can’t speak a single word of English, and aren’t seventeen to buy the Mature rated game that they pick out and I try to explain to them, using my broken Spanglish of sorts, and they still don’t understand me.. something is wrong.

Now I’m not saying that the Spanish people aren’t welcome in the United States or our store, but when they can’t understand a single word.. there needs to be something done to stop this. I’ve just been extremely angry lately with that, and I need to get it off my chest. As you may of guessed it happened again tonight.

The other big problem I have at work is when parents come in with their ten and under kids and dump them off in our store like we’re the babysitter of the mall. Shaking a fist in anger. How do I explain this without screaming? We’re not your son/daughters frigging babysitter. If your son gets kidnapped because you’re leaving your son/daughter unattended and the associates are too busy to pay attention to where you left your damn kid, you’re to blame. We can’t watch your kid.

Why do I bring this up? Because occasionally (ok .. I lie, every day I work) parents bring their kids in and dump their munchkins off. I’ve even had parents yell at me when their kids wander off from the store. It’s not my fault little Johnny gets bored of the same games we have as displays. Pissed off. I’ve nearly had enough of it, to the point where I’m thinking about writing a huge letter to the South Bend Tribune.

Okay, ranting over with (I think). As far as today at work. It was fine, because I worked with Frank and we actually had quite a bit of fun. We kept busy so the store was in operational order and everything else, and by the time it was closing time we got off right at about 6:10. It was a very fast day.

I’m pretty pissed off at Barns and Noble because they’re not going to accept my Social Security Number anymore to get my discount (for working for Gamestop) because they’ve been having issues with people saying they work for EB/Gamestop when they don’t, even though they took it not even four days ago. Pretty insignificant, but it still irks me off.

Other than that I had a pretty decent day.

Dad and Mom took me to Jimmy Johns for dinner because I was hungry, so I got a Bootlegger club (medium-rare roast beef and fresh sliced turkey loaded with lettuce, tomato & mayo) and Salt & Vinegar potato chips with a Cherry Coke. Pretty decent dinner. I wish I could of gotten another sandwich, but Dad’s penny pinching again for some strange reason so I decided not to argue and just submit and get one sandwich.

Anyways, that’s been my day.. not very eventful, but still eventful enough to write about.

P.S: The Spanish at the start of this log can translated into: “You do not have enough money to buy this game and you have to be seventeen to buy it, otherwise I cannot sell it to you.”

P.P.S: Foamy (from Ill Will Press) has a wonderful rant about my thoughts on the first subject of this blog. Click here to see it. Thanks to Evanita (a friend of mine) for the link!

Bought a new watch today.

Current mood: Pleased. Pleased.

Yup. Suprise Suprise right?

Not really, I’m obsessed with time, so it only makes sense especially when my old one went defunct.

Now as your aware, I was going to buy headphones.

However when I entered the coupon code to buy my headphones today, they couldn’t find the coupon code, so the headphones were going to be $109. $109 bucks is a bit expensive for my blood. The reason they were so expensive is because the coupon code I was going to enter to get them down to $65 dollars was more than a year old… Oh well. :(. That made me upset, but when I got called into work early (James needed to speak with me about somethings), I decided to look for a new watch instead of headphones.. I’m going to try to get the headphones on my next, or my next next pay check. They’re just too expensive to get right at the moment. Anyways, on to the watch.

As you know I’m incredibly fond of Dakota Watch Company watches. Well, I looked through the selection today and I was reminded of what my friend Kurt and my father both said. “I don’t know why you keep buying such expensive watches when they don’t last.” Needless to say, after about a half hour of looking at the watches in the Dakota Watch Company booth in the mall, I decided not to get a Dakota watch.

I had about an hour and a half left to kill before I was due to clock into work at 4:00, so I walked around to JC Penny, and looked at the selection of Fossil watches. I found one I really liked, however because it was just an analogue face, and it was quite big on my wrist, I decided against it. Then I saw the price. Sticker shock. It was more expensive than the headphones I was going to buy. I think it was because it was one of the self winding watches that work on Michael Faraday’s electrical kenetic rule. You know it has a giant spinning wheel in the middle of the face and the more you move the more electricity it generates, so it never needs a battery kinda deal? Yeah. Anyway, I didn’t get it (obviously). So after that, I walked over to Sears (yeah, I went all over the mall) and started looking at the rather small mens section of watches.

By small I mean it’s half the size of the womens watch section. Anyway I didn’t see anything that really struck my fancy until I looked up in a spinning display case of Casio watches. Casio’s been in the electronics industry since 1957. 49 years. I think thats a good thing when it comes to looking for a dependable watch.

Anyways, they had a section of watches branded with the ‘Waveceptor’ logo. These ‘Waveceptor’ watches are watches that accept the Atomic Watch signal in Fort Collins, Colorado on both their analogue and digital faces. What this means to you and me is that it’s accurate until December 31st 2039 at midnight. If you can’t figure that out.. I’ll be 58 years old by the time this watches dies (if I really keep it that long, or it survives that long). As for the watch I picked out it looks like this:

My New Watch.

They sell for $79.99 retail (as much as my old watch was) and on Casio’s website, but because of the fact that it has a very tiny (almost unnoticable, I mean you really have to look closely at the watch to see it) scratch in it’s face, I got 10% off. I paid a grand total of just $61 for my new watch that I’ll never have to set. Pretty damn good deal. It also as you can see, doesn’t have anything that sticks out near the sides so they can get caught and bashed into things while I’m at work or wearing it. Very nice for me. Over all I’m very happy with it.

Anyways, I got into work at 4:00 and worked until 9:30 tonight. I took “lunch” at 7:00 and had a Vegetarian super sub (without onions of course) on wheat from Frullati and a Fruit Punch Snapple. All and all, it was a pretty damn good meal. I might have it again soon. After “lunch” the store picked up and I worked almost non-stop until 8:40, and then the store died (like usual). So I lounged around and sorted the walls and made sure they were still alphabetized and straight, and by the time I was done with that it was time to go.

Over all it was a pretty pleasing day. I’m very happy with my new watch, and I don’t think I can complain about anything that went on today.

Everyone have a great night.
